(01) — How we started
Oslo · 2009
Ingrid Hollin and Callum Vey met measuring a collapsed barn in Hedmark. They started the practice that winter with one rule: nobody draws until everybody has stood on the site.
Seventeen years later that rule still decides how a week at Hollin Vey is spent. Site visits come first, models second, drawings third. We keep the practice small on purpose, so the partners draw on every project and see every site in winter.

We spend days on site before we draw. Wind, snow, sun and the neighbours shape the plan.

Four or five materials per building, chosen to age well and be repaired, not replaced.
