Skerry House
Touching the rock lightly
Twenty-two steel posts are pinned into the granite with resin anchors. No blasting, no fill, and the lichen runs right under the floor.
The living room is one window, eleven metres long and set 40 cm above the rock, so from the sofa you see sea and not the garden.
A studio for clay
The pottery studio sits at the sheltered end, with a kiln room vented through the roof and a sink drained to a gravel soakaway.
It feels like the island is holding the house up to the light.
